MIA

I have been so neglectful lately, I'm very sorry to those of you who do check back regularly. But between uni starting again, working so much more and having cousins in town shopping for wedding dresses I have barley even had time to turn the computer on. Last week I even went from Sunday to Friday without even opening my laptop. Okay so I wasn't completely unconnected, having an Iphone means your always connected as I'm sure you know.

Currently looking at a trip to NYC for NYE (haha I just love saying it). So with that in mind I think I'll leave you with some awesome New York Street art that I've found on Pintrest

I'll be back soon promise...

Rainbow Cake

So first off apologies in advance if this post ends up with photo overload but it's just so pretty and rainbow. I have been waiting for an occasion to make this multi layer rainbow cake and the baby shower I threw, for a friend, the other week was the perfect opportunity. If you saw this post here you know that I went with a rainbow theme for the shower and made lots of decorations too. So anyway I was baking pretty much all week after reading Smitten Kitchens tips for making layer cakes over here I thought I was pretty pro.

The most important part of making a layer cake is getting a flat surface on top so the layers go together smoothly. And also trying not to eat all the left over bits.

I always like to use jam and cream to go between my layers, I think in a cake this size if you used icing for between the layers as well as covering the outside would be a bit of icing overload.

It gives the best final result if you do a first 'crumb layer' of icing before the layer that will be visible. This layer is thin, just thick enough to stop crumbs from coming through to the outside layer of icing.

I was pretty happy with how it looked but if I were to do it again I would cut the top layer to the same size as the others as well. I just didn't really think about it among all the other stuff I was doing.

Gillian Zinser

So if we're being honest here, I'd have to tell you that I have a major girl crush on Gillian Zinser (Ivy from 90210). Not only do I have massive hair envy towards her, but I just can't get enough of her style. Shes got that kinda hippy rock chick thing going on and she does it oh so well. Anyway enough about my girl crush. Gillian features in a feative inspired lookbook, Gimme Shelter” the Coachella lookbook produced by Planet Blue and Foam Magazine.

And now for some behind the scenes Gillian:

This totally makes me wanna go to cochella already. I think there are some pretty cool festival get ups in this photo shoot. I can definatly picture some cool girls rocking these outfits chilling out to some of the amazing artists at cochella this year.

So tell me who are your girl crushes?

Always at home.

As if I even needed another reason to want a H&M in Sydney, the Swedish company now has a home range. With something for your kitchen, living room, bedroom and even your bathroom I feel like you could furnish your entire home straight from Sweden. Grab your flat packs from ikea and your furnishings from H&M and your all set.

Although I could probably find a use for almost everything from the H&M home range I have restrained myself and picked out some of my favorite things to share with you. I really would love one of these stripey towels in my bathroom and obviously couldn't go past these spotty pillows.

Rainbow Baby Shower Decorations

I've spent this last couple of weeks cutting and gluing and painting and planning to throw a friend of mine a baby shower for her very first baby. My friend hasn't found out the sex of the baby so I decided to go with a rainbow theme for the shower. I love making my own decorations so this was the perfect opportunity to whip out the paint, scissors and glue and start making. I thought I'd share, with you, a little bit of what I made.

If you follow me on instagram or twitter you may have already seen the food and more importantly the cake that I make for the baby shower, but if not you'll just have to wait till tomorrow for that post.

Love paper

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

How gorgeous are these Valentines day cards from the lovely Our Paper Shop. I think that a card like this makes the perfect present not only for your partner (maybe to go with something cute) but also for single friends just to make them feel loved on the day too. What I love almost more then the paper is how the girls do a full scale photos shoot with the cards. The way they photograph the cards is amazing.

Our Paper Shop is the collaboration of bloggers Emmadime and Moxee and produces some amazing stationery, stamps and cards. I highly recommend you check out both the girls blogs and head over to our paper shop and prepare to be amazed (particularly if you're a paper/stationery junkie like me).

The Our Paper Shop Blog is also a great read and the girls give you a  free (yes free) computer wallpaper for download each month. I currently have their February love themed wallpaper on my laptop now. I love it.
